• Joint responsibility with the captain for the safety and operational control of flights.
• Authorize, regulate and control commercial airline flights according to government and company regulations to expedite and ensure safety of flight.

• Prepare and sign the dispatch release which is the legal document providing authorization for a flight to depart.
• Update the pilot in command of significant changes to weather or flight plan and recommend flight plan alternates, such as changing course, altitude and, if required, Enroute landings in the interest of safety and economy.
• Ensured and guaranteed the safety of the flight from time of departure to the times of arrival.
• Coordinate with all department Flight crew, ATC, Ramp, Fuel company, Cargo office, Gate Agent, Station manager, Sky Chef, AFS, Police, Customs and immigration services as required
• Monitor the progress of each flight, Issues necessary information for the safety of the flight.
• Originate and disseminate flight information to others in the company including stations and reservations.
• Arranging crew is within their Flight Time Limitations, for legal fly.
• Responsible for give and taking the morning and evening handover and ensuring all critical information is passed on accordingly such as current fleet status, discrepancies, open/to do items and airspace status, meteorological condition

• Prepare the Load and Trim Sheet for different type of aircrafts in a timely manner.
• Put in aircraft registration, configuration code and Aircraft type on Sabre so as to generate Load sheets through the system as well as prepare manual Load sheets for CAR compliance.
• Calculate the Estimate Zero Fuel Weight (EZFW) in coordination with Flight Dispatch Department and monitor decrease/increase in EZFW and notify flight Dispatch for correct fuel uplift.
• Ensure Last Minute Changes in the trim sheet are done quickly and correctly.
• Constantly monitor rescheduled, delayed, combined and cancelled flights and prepare load sheet accordingly.
• Strive to uplift all cargo shipments wherever possible to maximize revenue.
• Generate Loading Instruction Reports and to ensure that Ramp staff load the aircraft in accordance with that.
• Necessitate checks to ensure that Load sheets are generated in adherence to Precision Time Schedule (PTS) to maintain scheduled departures. Strictly adhere to CAR requirements and maintain/update records
• Be vigilant to ensure that all Load sheets are accurate and do not flout mandatory, legal and safety norms as spelt out in the Load & Trim Indoctrination Manual.
• Pass load Detail Message (LDM) irrespective of Manual / Automated generated Load sheets.
• Generate messages of baggage and cargo offloaded due payload restrictions to all concerned.
• Liaise with Cargo and Flight Dispatch so that DGR shipments scheduled for uplift do not face blocks.
• Ensure that the flight is keyed into Post Departure mode once the aircraft is airborne to enable a free flow of documentation processes
